The decoration consisted of a spray of oak leaves in bronze. The MiD is worn with the medal and is affixed to the centre of the ribbon at an angle of sixty degrees from the inside edge of the ribbon, stem to the right of the wearer.
The full size Mid has a width of 26mm and height of 8mm (at widest point), and the miniature MiD has a width of 14mm and height of 4mm (at widest point)
