The medal is a 6 pointed star with a circular centre, with a maximum width of 38mm and 50mm high from the bottom point of the star to the top of the eyelet. It has a ring suspender which passes through an eyelet formed above the uppermost point of the star.
Obverse
This six-pointed star has a circular centre with the GRI/VI monogram, surmounted by the Royal crown, and inscribed ‘The Burma Star’.
Reverse
The reverse of the medal is blank as with all World War II Campaign Medals.
Ribbon
The ribbon is 32mm wide, The centre of the ribbon has a red stripe (10mm) representing the Commonwealth forces with outer stripes of dark blue (3.5mm) representing the British forces. The dark blue bands each have at their centres a stripe of bright orange (4mm) symbolising the sun.
Packing
