The medal is a 6 pointed star with a circular centre, with a maximum width of 19mm and 25mm high from the bottom point of the star to the top of the eyelet. It has a ring suspender which passes through an eyelet formed above the uppermost point of the star.
Obverse
This six-pointed star has a circular centre with the GRI/VI monogram, surmounted by the Royal crown, and inscribed ‘The Pacific Star Star’.
Reverse
The reverse of the medal is blank as with all World War II Campaign Medals.
Ribbon
The ribbon is 16mm wide. It has one yellow stripe (1.5mm) in the middle symbolising the beaches of the Pacific, with dark green stripes (2.75mm) on either side of the yellow stripe, symbolising the jungles of the Pacific. The outer edges are wide stripes of red (3mm) representing the Army. It has a narrow stripe of dark blue (1.5mm) on the left (between the red and the green stripes) which represents the Navy, and a light blue stripe (1.5mm) on the right (between the green and red stripes) representing the Air Force.
