This commendation consists of a spray of laurel leaves in silver.
This a British civilian and military award established in 1939 to recognize gallantry in non-warlike situations and is not in action with the enemy or out of theatre (Except flying), such as civil defense or peacetime bravery. It is worn on a campaign medal or on the lapel if no medal.
The full size commendation has a width of 27mm and a height of 7mm (at widest point).
The miniature commendation has a width of 17mm and a height of 5mm (at widest point).
